NORTHAMPTON TRANSPORT CONFERENCE BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND

December 17th, 2019

Following a successful inaugural event in June this year, the Northampton Transport Conference has announced that it will return in February 2020.

Entitled Northampton Transport Conference: Learn, Network, Grow, the event will take place at the Hilton Northampton, Collingtree from 8.30am to 12.30pm on Wednesday 5th February.

Organised by driver recruitment company NN1 Personnel, the conference is open to transport operators and managers and anyone who owns a transport-related business. It will feature guest speakers talking on a variety of transport related topics including employment law, compliance and driver health and wellbeing, as well as plenty of opportunities for industry networking.

Speakers announced so far include:

Mike Hayward, Woodfines Solicitors – Mike acts for those in the transport, haulage and distribution industry advising on all aspects of Operator Licensing. He is also a member of a regional Freight Transport Association (FTA) Freight Transport Council.

Jim Wright, Wright Logistics Services Ltd – Jim is a compliance specialist and qualified FORS auditor, as well as a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport (FCILT) and a member of the Northamptonshire Logistics strategy board.

Steve Gamble, Counter Terrorism Awareness Adviser, East Midlands Special Operations, Special Branch – Steve will talk about the current threat of terrorism and extremism and the impact of protest activity on the logistics sector, discussing vehicle security and reducing the risk of an HGV being used as a weapon.

Duncan Ward, Northampton Safer Road Alliance (NSRA) – Duncan supports victims of and witnesses to road related incidents, working towards making the roads in Northamptonshire safer for everyone.

Jenna Parton, Public Health Northamptonshire – Jenna looks after the physical and mental health of a workforce.

There will also be presentations by Highways England and Warwickshire Police Serious Collision Investigation Team.

Justyna Sodel, Director of NN1 Personnel and event organiser, said: “We wanted to create an event for transport operators at local businesses to come together and learn and network with each other. Last time we discussed the challenges facing the transport industry and heard about upcoming changes to the law. The event sold out and attracted a mixed audience of HGV drivers, haulage business owners and representatives of transport and logistics organisations who all gave us some fantastic feedback.

“The demand is there to make this a regular event, and to have the support of organisations such as Warwickshire Police, SEMLEP, Road Haulage Association and Highways England shows how valued this conference is already.”

Conference tickets are available at an early bird price of £15 + VAT until Wednesday 31st December, after which they will increase to £25 + VAT. Tickets are available to book online through Eventbrite. For further information, contact Justyna on 01604 626355 or email justyna.sodel@nn1personnel.co.uk.
