“A temporary driver recruitment company in Northampton is celebrating five years in business.

Run by husband and wife team, Damian and Justyna Sodel, NN1 Personnel marked the milestone with a series of events and activities which included a weekend celebration and training session with its drivers, client visits and even redecorating the office!

Company’s Birthday Celebration

The birthday also coincided with the company’s second Northampton Transport Conference, which took place on Wednesday 5th February, was open to transport operators and managers and covered a variety of topics including employment law, compliance and driver health and wellbeing, as well as plenty of opportunities for industry networking.

Justyna and Damian Sodel established NN1 Personnel in 2015 after both working in logistics and seeing a real need for a temporary driver agency that met the needs of its clients flexibly. Since then, the company has grown to a team of five staff, moved to a larger office, and managed to maintain a 100% attendance rate for five consecutive years, which means they have never had a driver not show up for work.

Company Growth

Last year was the best year yet for NN1 Personnel, with the company achieving 42% year-on-year growth and winning the Northamptonshire Logistics Award for Temporary Staff Agency of the Year. The team also managed to supply drivers for a staggering 11,840 shifts and launch the Northampton Transport Conference to raise awareness of the issues affecting HGV drivers and transport companies and offer advice through guest speakers. The conference was so well received it will become an annual event. The company also ran a successful Mental Health and Wellbeing campaign for drivers, distributing posters around the county containing details of organisations they could turn to for help if they were experiencing mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and stress – all of which impact their ability to work effectively and drive safely.

Justyna said: “We are so proud of everything that NN1 Personnel has achieved – not just the significant growth, but also of our reputation and relationships we have with our drivers and clients.

“Like other agencies, we carry our stringent checks on our drivers, looking at their licences, qualifications and paperwork but we also treat our drivers as an extension of our family, getting to know them personally and what is happening in their lives and we try to meet their requirements in terms of location and shift pattern. This makes them feel valued and work to the highest standards. In line with this, last month we officially registered the 22nd January as National HGV Drivers Day. This national awareness day will now take place annually and celebrate everything HGV Drivers do for us, not only by contributing to the UK economy, but also everyone’s daily life.”

“Our drivers are our products and represent, not only our business, but also our clients’ businesses,” adds Damian. “We only work with the best drivers and listen to feedback from our clients to address any issues straightaway. Even though we have experienced significant growth, we have managed to keep the same culture and that has been key to our continued success. We are living proof that you can have a successful business and start with no money, contacts or experience of running a business. With hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything!”
