It’s time for National Lorry Week 2024 !! The event is proudly organised by the Road Haulage Association (RHA). While the official week runs from 4th to 8th November, the RHA lorry is already making its rounds ( more details further in the blog). This campaign is a celebration of the hardworking drivers, lorries and industry professionals that keep the UK moving. This year is extra special because it marks the 10th anniversary of this campaign.
Whether you’re passionate about the world of logistics or simply curious, here is all you should know about the National Lorry week 2024:
National Lorry Week celebrates the essential role that lorries and their drivers play in keeping supply chains moving and delivering economic growth. Over the past decade, it has become a platform to raise awareness about the many career paths within the industry. From drivers and mechanics to planners and logistics managers, the sector offers limitless opportunities for people with a range of skills.
This year’s campaign also focuses on the future. With the demand for goods increasing, the road transport industry needs a skilled and diverse workforce to meet these challenges head-on. National Lorry Week promotes the idea that the logistics sector is not just an essential part of the economy but also an exciting and rewarding career choice.
One of the most exciting aspects of National Lorry Week 2024 is the three-week roadshow that travels across the UK. From 21st October to 8th November, the RHA truck will be visiting schools, colleges, RHA members, and industry partners. It will be offering a hands-on experience for those interested in a career in road transport.
The roadshow is packed with opportunities to meet industry professionals, get career advice, and even test your skills in a truck driving simulator. It lets you experience the thrill of driving a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) without leaving the safety of the cab! The roadshow is the perfect way to get a taste of what life behind the wheel is really like.
Check out the roadshow’s itinerary, with stops at locations across the UK, including Michelin Tyres, Exeter College, and Northampton College. Each stop will offer exciting activities, career insights, and opportunities to learn about the transport sector.
